Nursery & Pre-K Daily Schedule

Preschool Division
Nursery Class Daily Schedule

8:15	Arrival Children come to the classroom where they hang up their coats, unpack lunches, and wash their hands.
8:30	Warm Up Time This includes quiet activities such as books, puzzles, and drawing, and free play.
8:45	Circle Time The children sit in a circle with the teachers for group activities that include singing, looking at the days of the week, reporting the weather, playing group games related to math, language, science or an art demonstration. Friday there is a group music class with the Music Specialist.
9:00	Play Time The children have free choice of classroom toys and games in an open, but supervised manner. There are also a variety of special projects during this time.
10:00	Clean up and Snack Time The children learn to put their toys and games away. A wholesome snack is provided and they prepare for a trip to the park.
10:30	Park or Indoor Movement Games In the event that the weather doesn’t allow for the park, the class has a longer play period indoors.
11:30	Story Time The children listen to a story told by their teacher or do their own dramatic presentations.
11:45	Lunchtime Lunch is a special time in which the children serve each other and their teachers and special guests. It is an excellent time for one on one and small group conversations.
12:15	Spanish/Quiet Play/Lunch clean up On Tuesdays and Thursdays there are classes with the preschool Spanish teacher, Ms. Rodriguez. The children learn to help with the clean up and then look at books and puzzles until dismissal.
12:45	Dismissal The children are brought downstairs for dismissal.
Extended Day
12:45	Rest/Quiet Time The children get their mats, the lights are dimmed and they have a rest period.
1:30	Special Project Time Each day a different activity is presented by one of the preschool teachers.
2:00	Park/Movement Time The children have a second outdoor playtime.
3:00	Dismissal The children leave the classroom with their parent/caregivers

8:15	Table Games This includes quiet activities such as math or language manipulatives, puzzles and drawing.
8:30	Circle Time The children sit in a circle with the teachers for group activities that include singing, calendar,reporting the weather, playing games related to math, language or science. Special art projects are introduced by the teachers.
9:00	Play Time/Friday Music The children have free choice of classroom toys, and games, sand, water and blocks in an open, but supervised manner. Friday's playtime is shortened and there is a class with the Music Specialist.
9:50	Clean up and Snack Time The children learn to put their toys and games away. A wholesome snack is provided.
10:05	Getting Ready for Reading Program/Wednesday Spanish The teacher reads one of the classic stories from the pre-reading and writing program which introduces many literacy skills. The children select one of the stories to read alone, with a friend, or with a teacher. On Wednesdays the children have a Spanish lesson.
