Neal Broxmeyer was an inspiring man. It was his energy and will, together with that of the other founding members that led to the founding of the Abraham Lincoln School. His vision and determination is very much active and alive in the renaming of this school into the Philosophy Day School. Since October 16, 1996, we have marked the anniversary of the passing of this remarkable man.

In 1993, Neal met with Howard Schott, the founding Headmaster, and it was decided that it was the time to start the day school. Neal sent his son, David, to the school, who was in the 2002 graduating class. David is now in college, poised to enter a larger world and beyond. He is well prepared for that journey, as are the other 13 original graduates.

What they learned was inscribed in the motto “Truth is Everything.” This was the way Neal lived. This is what he taught. This is how he inspired. As the leader of the School of Practical Philosophy, he helped people realize their full potential and not to settle for anything mediocre, but to work for what really matters. His inspiration is in the fabric of the Philosophy Day School.

We are honored that there is a fund named after him, a fund that generously allows children who could not otherwise afford to attend our school be able to come. We feel strongly that no one who deeply desires a Philosophy Day education should be denied that merely for financial reasons. We are grateful that the Neal Broxmeyer Scholarship Fund has already made it possible for such candidates to enter and remain at our school. Since the fund’s inception, we were able to raise over one million dollars.

Please continue to support the Neal Broxmeyer Scholarship Fund. A brochure explaining how to give is attached herein. Its existence is key to the life-blood of our school. As the general cost of private education rises, there is a growing gulf between those who are able to afford and benefit from private education and those who are not. We hope that we will always be able to provide the education to worthy candidates regardless of financial circumstances.

When the occasion arises, please consider a gift to the Neal Broxmeyer Scholarship Fund. We are grateful for your support.
