This month, the Second Grade participated in Socks N’ Undies.  This is a program that collects socks, underwear, undershirts, and toiletries for homeless men, women, and children in NYC.  The students asked their friends, family, and neighbors for donations.  Then, they sorted everything into categories, made labels for each pile and bagged all the donations themselves. This project heightened their awareness of those in need and made them feel more involved in their community.
